I have these different waves of getting organised. Right now there are 3 weeks left of Term 3 here in NSW and we have just concluded 7 sessions on Ave Maris Stella. St Michael’s feast day falls on a Sunday this year, so I thought I would base the next few weeks on that.

Each session features a brief run through a piece of chant. My aim is to send out the piece with vocabulary and crossword puzzle and a recording about a week in advance so students can learn the words and music ahead of time. The session ends with a quiz going through vocabulary and a few questions on reading chant notation. We are using Quizizz for the quiz.

Much of the material tends to come from Veronica’s book A New Book of Old Hymns.

We keep in touch via a Signal group. Sometimes we need to change the schedule.
