For Lent I’ve been running through some common antiphons with a couple of families via zoom. It’s all a bit experimental. Today we sang : Attende Domine Gloria Laus and Regina Caeli - singing just the vowels in the A-word: “A-e-u-a” At the end one clever chap started playing Attende Domine on the keyboard, so I thought I’d make up some pages with the letter names.

I’m participating in Septuagesima70 from the Iria Foundation. Ther recommended prayer regime features a daily Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus. This can be sung. Here is the sheet music

So, while making a soroban worksheet, I managed to make a minibook! The next step is to make an 8 page, large print booklet of chant to rearrange for printing as a minibook.

Here I continue to add the parts of the Rosary which our family routinely sings. I’ve set the videos to go live over the next couple of days, so if you get “This video is private” then in the meantime you can enjoy the PDF and come back tomorrow for a video or two.

Today I’m rectifying a glaring omission from my online offerings. It’s the simple things that get overlooked. Here is how we sing the Pater Noster for our family rosary. The idea came from an Opus Dei talk recounting how Pope John Paul II came to say the rosary late one night with an Opus Dei priest and said that he usually sang the Pater Nosters.

A lady from Brazil requested a Latin hymn to St Philomena. A quick search yielded two on the Musica Sacra forum. Being a fusspot, I redrafted one and I’m thinking about setting the other one too.

Singing the Angelus would be awesome. Corpus Christi Watershed’s article Dom Charpentier took a common tune and fit the words of the Angelus then added in the Ave Maria to a matching psalm tone.

I came across this great Latin book for Boys and Girls. In the back of the book are some nursery rhymes in Latin. I’m wondering if I can include this in my #100daysofchant challenge.
